Aruna Jethwani

Aruna Jethwani is an award winning author, and an educationist. She is the former principal of the prestigious St.MIRA'S COLLEGE for GIRIS, Pune. Aruna Jethwani is a free lance writer, a poet, and a novelist.

She has to her credit three novels, two poetry books, two self-help books, one compilation of regional stories and a biography of Dada J P Vaswani with a foreword by Dr.Karan Singh.

She has translated Sadhu TL Vaswani's autobiography, Dada sandan hi shabdan mein into English, titled ECSTASY and EXPERIENCES, A mystical journey by Sadhu Vaswani, which has received rave reviews from scholars at home and abroad.

Aruna Jethwani is VICE-CHAIRPERSON, National council for promotion of SINDHI LANGUAGE, Ministry of HRd, Dept. of Education, Delhi. Aruna Jethwani's debut novel ANOTHER LOVE, ANOTHER SKY received Subramanium Bharti Pursakar, by AUTHORS GUILD OF INDIA, Delhi, in 2005. Her second novel, DANCE O' PEACOCK has been well received. Aruna Jethwani is currently involved in community work. She is a Sunday painter. She has been honoured several times in Pune.

Her Short Story Bridge on river Krishna won first prize in Rajaji Award competition in 1991. It has been translated into several Indian languages. Its Sindhi version is published by the BOOK TUST OF INDIA.

Her 16 stories translated into Marathi, have been compiled and published with the title- Chanderi Ghurte, Soneri Akash. Published by Nishigandh publishers, its first edition is sold out.

Her latest novel: At the wedding—a tale of Roots…Romance….Prophecy, is a novel of significance to the Sindhi community and is dedicated 'to the spirit of Sindhi community.

Aruna Jethwani's poems have been published in various magazines and journals including the Indian Literature.

Aruna Jethwani has also translated poetry and prose from Sindhi into English for Sahitya Akademi Western Region, Mumbai. She has also received consolation prize in the national translation competition conducted by Sahitya Akademi Delhi, for a verse from Shah Jo Risalo.

Her translation of selected verses of Shah Abdul Latif is published now with the financial assistance from NCPSL, Ministry of HRD, Delhi. The Sufi is a scholarly book appreciated by British scholars, Dr.Sumit Paul and late Dr. Rajlukshmee Debee.
